[ 1 ] Equipped with a sturdy, printed hinge and recessed slots for four 6mm x 3mm magnets, it delivers that incredibly satisfying, snappy click every single time you close it. Because I suffer from a severe case of "tolerance OCD," I have relentlessly test-printed and tweaked this design to ensure the hinge operates as well as I can make it. Saying that the round hinge pin may benefit from a slight sand to ensure perfectly smooth action depending on your printer. Customisation Parameters Hit the Customize button to tweak these dimensions: Width Depth Base Height Lid Height Hardware Required 4x Magnets: 6mm diameter x 3mm thickness (provides the magnetic snap closure). No Glue Needed: The magnet pockets are engineered with a strict, snug tolerance. Once pushed in, they are locked in by friction alone. ⚠️ Critical Assembly Tip (Magnet Polarity) Because the magnet fit is intentionally tight, you will not be able to pull them out once they are pushed in. The Trick: Take your stack of 4 magnets: Push 1st magnet in on base of box Push 2nd magnet into other hole on the base of box making Drop remaining 2 magnets on top of 1st and 2nd magnets Close box and press together, then open box and ensure magnets are fully seated Print Settings & Profiles These are the settings I prefer: Wall Generator: Set to Arachne (essential for handling the fine tolerances around the hinge pin and magnet walls seamlessly). Avoid Crossing Walls: Enabled (eliminates stringing entirely inside the box or across the hinge path). Brim: Set to Auto. The hinge pin is printed horizontally and usually adheres flawlessly without a brim, but Auto-brim is enabled as a safety net just in case your specific build plate needs the extra grip.
