2013 Hyundai Elantra Brake light Switch Spacer

If you're Elantra was like mine, you may have found yourself wondering, wtf are my brake lights doing on with the car off and keys removed? Well there is a little rubber spacer/stopper that sits between your brake pedal mechanism and your brake light switch. This piece is prone to crumbling and falling apart over time. Since the brake light switch turns the lights on when the switch is open, that means your brake lights will stay on after it fails. Without this little piece there, the switch can't close and turn the lights off. Thankfully this is a quick and easy print. I chose to use TPU as it more closely resembled the original material, and I felt it would help the ridged nub fit in place better. All you have to do is find your break light switch, and the plunger at the end of it that turns the switch open and closed. Adjacent to that you'll see a metal bar with a small hole in it. Shove the ridged nub in there. It might take a little fiddling to get it in between the switch and metal, but it fits. Once popped in, the plunger for the brake light switch will rest nicely on the base of the print, and remain closed, keeping your brake lights off until you press the pedal. We've had temperatures of about 100 degrees Fahrenheit the past few weeks, and the print has shown no signs of degradation or warping. You can always print the second plate and keep some backups in the glove box to be safe!
