Hello! I'm offering this set entirely for free! It is intended as a demo of what the rest of my line of digital files looks like, so I do hope you give it a try!
Upon downloading these files you will find, as always, a complete instruction guide to take you by the hand all throughout the assembly of your own set of 3D printed costume armor. It's a bit of an intermediate difficulty project, requiring some level of comfort with hobby projects, cosplay, prop making, etc. as well as understanding of basic 3D printing principles.
Some key points:
=> This is a set of .stl files I designed to fit a 220x220mm print bed so a majority of people can print at home. You don't need a fancy printer to craft these kits, and only a bit of experience with 3D printing overall.
=> No AI involved - I carefully designed everything by myself and tested it out to ensure I could deliver the highest quality of product. Designing historically accurate armor kits is a true passion of mine!
=> I created a pdf assembly guide to take you from the basic “print and wear” assembly all the way to a fully painted and weathered piece, like in the photos.
=> I recommend printing with PETG or PETG-CF for durability, ease of sanding, and UV resistance. This kit took about 0.4 kg of filament to print two shoulders.
=> All the fasteners, tools and hardware necessary for an accurate replica are listed in the guide. This model makes use of M5x6 chicago screws, 6x6mm and 8x6mm metal cap rivets, some belt buckles, superglue, and fake leather strips. I recommend sourcing the hardware and tools suggested in the guide.
=> Enclosed are the instructions on how to set up and scale the files for your own body proportions based on your own measurements. A proper fit is crucial for comfort on all armor and cosplay.
=> This is a costume piece, not real armor, and its ruggedness depends on too many printing and assembly factors outside my control! I do think it could take some foam sword hits during a LARP, but that is at your own discretion. This is primarily a renfaire/cosplay/display piece!
I set out on a journey to design the best wearable 3D printed armor I could come up with, after being disappointed with the historical accuracy of what was available online.
This spaulder design has received feedback from Wade Allen, owner of Allen Antiques, who owns a similar 16th century spaulder that was part of the inspiration for this design. While my copy is imperfect and the result of compromises made with 3D printing plastic, CAD complexity, and available information, his precious advice pushed me to tinker with it further and bring it closer to the shape of a real museum piece, a historically accurate prop. I would like to extend very special thanks to him for taking the time to review my work and pushing me in the right direction.
I am very happy to share this labor of love with you, and I hope that the included guide can help you make your own printed “antique” piece, something that will look great in your next project.
Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or if you run into issues.
