Meet the Articulated Manta Ray! It prints in place, articulates right off the buildplate, and no assembly or post processing is required. You can choose between a singlecolor and a multicolor version.

The multicolor version requires a toolchanger or an automatic filament swap system (MMU, AMS, CFS or similar). It is not recommended to print the individual parts separately and then assemble them, the model files are not designed or optimized  for this workflow.

Included Files

I've included two .3mf project files for PrusaSlicer (singlecolor and multicolor), as well as .stl files for best compatibility with other slicers.

If you're creating your own multicolor project file from scratch: import the two included .stl files from the multicolor folder at the same time into your slicer as one file with multiple parts, the slicer should automatically align all the parts, and assign an individual color to each of them. Each stl file is named after the color used for the example print.

Scaling

This model should come out perfectly functional even at lower scales. Tested up to 60% of the original scale. Results may vary depending on the accuracy of your setup and quality of the materials used.

Adhesion aid

Unnecessary, the contact surface with the buildplate should provide sufficient adhesion. However if your print surface suffers from poor adhesion, consider using an adhesive spray, or some other kind of adhesion booster. Using a brim is possible, but not recommended, as it would be too difficult, and inconvenient to remove afterwards.
