Daft Punk Thomas Silver Helmet!
Update Oct 2024: Recreated this version 2.0 from scratch. There were a few features that were bugging me with V1, so I created a new and improved model including mounts for LEDs
All parts rotated to print flat. Print with supports, preferably tree supports.
Helmet prints in one piece on large printers (300x300) by rotating 45 degrees
FOR MEDIUM SIZE PRINTERS (~250X250): See "Cut in Half" remix

Parts List:
- 1x Helmet.stl (or Smile.stl for a happier Thomas)
- 1x Ear - Inner Left.stl
- 1x Ear - Inner Right.stl
- 2x Ear - Cap.stl
- 2x Ear - NeoPixel Light Ring.stl (print in clear filament!!!)
- 1x 1/8" or 3mm thick sheet acrylic, at least 390 mm x 64 mm (15-1/4 inches x 2-5/16"; pre tinted, or clear and add automotive tint after forming)
- Epoxy or adhesive - look up the best adhesive for your filament type
Optional:
- 1x Window Cutout Template.stl - Will just barely fit on 300x300 print bed when rotated 45 degrees (half template can be found in the remixes)
- 1x Visor Form.stl
- 1x Matrix Mount.stl - compatible with AlexPlusLEDs or other flexible LED matrices smaller than 214 mm x 54 mm
- 2x Adafruit Neopixel Light Rings (or other light rings with a diameter of 36.8 mm or less)
- Up to 10x 6mmx3mm round neodymium magnets
- Hot glue
Light Rings: Adafruit Neopixel 12 rings should snap into place, otherwise use hot glue or other clear adhesive
LED mounts: Use hot glue or other adhesive to affix LED matrices to the mounts. Glue the magnets into round holes in the mounts and the helmet - don't forget to check polarity!
Visor: Use the Window Cutout Template to cut out the visor from pre-tinted acrylic sheet. Print the Visor Form in a high-temp filament. Place the visor over the form in the oven and slowly heat until the acrylic is pliable and 'droops' over the form.
Use sandable filler primer to cover helmet and ear rings. Sand to smooth finish, clean and paint. Parts may need to be sanded before priming if they are too rough for the filler primer. Or for a glossy smooth surface, coat with bondo and sand (look up technique on Youtube), then prime, do finish sanding, and paint.
There's also an All-in-One.stl model if you're not concerned with having the separate transparent rings on the ears. It is slightly roomier as well. Visor opening will need to be cut out.
