Introduction
All other modular Skadis models I have found either omit holes, or split holes down the center at the seams. I didn't like that look, so I created my own from scratch. Before I start, there's a lot of documentation here, not because it's a difficult print, or difficult assembly, but because it is so flexible.

This modular Skadis system uses a simple series of labeled tiles and connectors to create an infinitely large Skadis board (and even small ones.) There are two sets of tiles:
Set 1
There are 5 main tiles (A-E) in the first set, and 4 of them can be rotated (designated by the *) to form a full grid with margins all around .
The smallest configuration for this set would be just the 4 corners (2x A + 2x D) making a 2x2 grid. You can start with this and expand later.
To increase the overall size it's just a matter of adding more side tiles [B, C] and center tiles [E].
Think outside the box with corner tiles (Ac / Dc)
Set 2
Make a single column as tall as you want,
or a single row; all with a nice rounded border.
BONUS: A fully bordered single is included if you just need one small tile.
Printing
- I've printed these models in both .20 layer height with a .4 nozzle, as well as .40 layer height on a .6 nozzle, no problems with either.
- No supports are needed for any of the pieces in their designed orientation:
- Flat on their sides for the connectors
- Front-side down (label and connector holes up) for the tiles
- I find Triangles infill works good with this model, but feel free to experiment
- To conserve material and save on time, I printed mine with 3 layers on the bottom (the part you see) and only 2 on top (the side towards the wall)
The number of connectors you'll need depends on your grid configuration. Print and arrange your tiles first, then you can count how many of each connector you will need.
Assembly
There are two types of connectors that bind the tiles together. They are designed to print without supports (laying on either side).
The tiles are designed for M3x12 flat head cap screws, and they should thread directly into the connectors. For added strength you can use M3 nuts on the back of the connectors.
NOTE: Any M3 screw length between 8mm and 24mm should work.
The connectors form a tight fit into the tiles (sometimes needing to be lightly tapped in until flush) so they [should] hold the tiles securely while inserting screws.
TIP: Work with small sections at a time as moving large (unscrewed) tiles around can be tricky.
FEATURES: The connectors also double as 20mm spacers from the wall (standard Skadis); and they include holes for securing the tiles to the wall wherever you may have wobble (mostly applicable for large grids.) Additionally, the connectors are designed to stay out of the way of the usability of the holes they're near.
Time to build
So, you have identified which tiles you will need and you've printed them. You'll need at least a few connectors of each kind to start; when you start putting things together you'll have a better idea how many of each connector you'll require for your particular build.
Inner corners will require two of the 3-leg connectors (shown with and without nuts):

For added support in the middle of a large grid you can add screws through some of the inner connectors from this kit. The easiest way I found to do this was to unscrew a single tile, loosen the adjacent tile, and sneak a screw into the connector. You can then line everything back up and screw the tile back on.
Materials for this 3x2 panel (~ 62cm x 41cm / 24" x 16" with standard size tiles)
- 2x tile A, 2x tile D, 2x tile B from Set 1 standard
- 4x double connector, 6x single connector
- 24 M3 screws (and optional nuts)
- Hung with 4x @JonasTae_166951 skadis wall mount
Design Tools
To add to the fun, and make it easier to plan new and creative board shapes, I've created “Planning Chips” (in the tools section). These are small/thin (40x40x2mm) chips that are perfect scaled down representations of their respective full-size tiles. Print a few sets of these and you'll have a bunch of miniature tiles to arrange (remember Tangram puzzles?) and come up with unique new shapes for your board.
Printing the Chips: The .3mf file for the chips include a color change based on .20 layers for those without an MMU. Or you can just print it all in one color.
There are 3 simple rules for using the chips (see image below.) Hopefully their usage is self-explanatory.
As long as you follow the rules, maintain proper alignment, keep all holes vertically oriented, and don't put two chips across a border from each other, the full-size tiles should fit together into a continuous panel.
