The translucent bins with little removable dividers are HORRIBLE when it comes to keeping parts separated. Â When closed, parts can jump between bins, which drives me CRAZY.
This design intends to fix that.
At the top of each wall is an extension which fits into a groove in the lid. Â Even if the lid is not perfectly flat or if it flexes due to external stresses, I can 100% trust that the parts will not leak from one bin into the neighboring bin.
This also allows me to arrange these bins on edge like books on a bookshelf, and I can 100% trust that the parts will remain in the correct bins.
(It is not a water-tight seal that would keep liquids or sand, but grains of rice or cupcake sprinkles for example would remain 100% separated.)
Use a piece of 1.75 mm filament as a pin for each of the hinges.
