elemental mage for dungeons and dragons (numer 2)

Suggested Name: Hadraithus Connan (or your preferred name!)

Class: Mage (School of Magic: Evocation or Conjuration)

Suggested Race: Human (Variant) or Genasi (if you're looking for a more intrinsic connection to the elements). If you want something more exotic, an Elf (Moon Elf or Shadow Elf) could also work.

Suggested Background: Hermit, Sage, or Acolyte (if their magic has a more mystical or divine origin).
Suggested Ability Point Distribution (Suggested Ability Point Distribution for Mage):

I'll give you a standard distribution, assuming the "Standard Array" method (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or that you use a point generator that gives similar values.

Intelligence (INT): 15 (+2 if Human Variant): 17 (Your primary attribute, critical for your spells).
Constitution (CON): 14 (Important for hit points and maintaining concentration on spells).
Dexterity (DEX): 13 (For initiative, AC with light/unarmored armor, and some skills).
Wisdom (WIS): 12 (For perceptions and some important saving throws).
Charisma (CHA): 10 (Not your strong suit, but not your primary attribute).
Strength (STR): 8 (Your lowest attribute, not relevant for a mage who avoids melee combat).

Modifiers (after distribution):

INT: +3 (+4 with 17)
CON: +2
DEX: +1
WIS: +1
CHA: +0
STR: -1

Skills and Proficiencies:

Saving Throws: Intelligence, Wisdom (proficient as a Wizard).
Armor: None (or Light Armor if your race allows it, but as a Wizard you generally won't use it).
Weapons: Daggers, Darts, Slings, Staves, Light Crossbows.
Tools: None (unless your background gives you one).
Skills:
Wizard: Arcana, Investigation.
Background Skills (e.g., Hermit): Medicine, Religion (or any other skills you prefer from your background).

Spells and Playstyle:

Since the image shows a mage who manipulates water and fire, and potentially other elements, Evocation or Conjuration spells will be key.

Suggested Spells (Level 1):

Cantrips:
Fire Bolt: Your primary fire elemental attack.
Acid Splash: A different and useful elemental option for affecting multiple nearby enemies.
Ray of Frost: For cold damage and slowing enemies.
Mage Hand: Always useful for interacting with the environment.

Level 1 Spells:
Mage Armor: To increase your AC (if you're not wearing armor).
Thunderwave: A force elemental spell that knocks back and damages.
Magic Missile: A reliable classic that never fails.
Gust of Wind: To control the battlefield with air/wind (if your DM allows you to adapt it as an Evocation or Conjuration spell).
Shield: For emergency defense.

Combat Style:
Your elemental mage is both a blaster and a controller. He seeks to maintain distance, use area spells to damage multiple enemies (such as Fireball or Cone of Cold at higher levels), and control spells to manipulate the battlefield (such as Wall of Stone, Wall of Fire, or Control Water at higher levels).

Party Role:
Ranged magic damage, crowd control, out-of-combat utility (with spells like Levitate, Fly, etc.), and arcane knowledge.
Personality and Background:

Physical Description: An old man with a hood covering his eyes, which glow with an internal light (perhaps reddish for fire or bluish for water). His voice is deep and resonant, and his hands are marked by the elemental energy he channels. He wears simple robes with arcane embroidery that seems to mimic waves and flames.
Personality Traits: Wise but enigmatic. He can be solitary and focused on his arcane and elemental studies. He may have a strong sense of responsibility to balance the elemental forces, or conversely, a desire to master them.
Ideal: Knowledge (delving into the mysteries of elemental magic), Balance (maintaining harmony among the elements), or Power (mastering the primal forces).
Bond: An ancient arcane text on elemental magic, a place of elemental power he seeks to protect, or a mentor who taught him the secrets of the elements.
Flaw: An obsession with elemental knowledge that causes him to ignore other things, or a tendency to view problems only through the lens of the elements. He can be impulsive when his elemental powers are unleashed.

Story Ideas (Background):

Elemental Origin: You may have been born near a confluence of elemental power, or blessed/cursed with an innate affinity for fire and water.
Quest for Balance: You have dedicated your life to studying and understanding the volatile nature of the elements, seeking harmony between them or fearing their destructive power.
Ancient Mage: Perhaps you are a very ancient mage who has seen the rise and fall of empires, and now travels to better understand the world and the elements that govern it.
Keeper of a Secret: You could be the custodian of an ancient elemental secret, or an artifact that channels great elemental power.
