Top Surface Ironing Test

This calibration test is designed to find the ideal ironing settings for achieving a smooth top surface when printing with a 3D printer. The model consists of a 10x10 array of flat cylinders. Along the X-axis, the ironing speed increases from 10 mm/s to 100 mm/s, while the Y-axis varies the flow rate from 10% to 100%. This allows for a precise evaluation of how different settings impact surface finish and print quality. The project is designed for OrcaSlicer.

⚠ Ender 3 V3 KE:
With a large number of separate objects on the build plate (≈100), some users experienced incorrect Z behavior when slicing in OrcaSlicer.

Surface Types: This test allows you to evaluate three different surface outcomes:

Matte and the flattest surface – Achieved by balancing ironing speed and flow rate for a uniform, non-reflective finish.

Glossy and the flattest surface – Optimized for a reflective, polished look with minimal surface imperfections.

Maximum print speed with acceptable quality – Finding the highest possible ironing speed that maintains a reasonable surface quality.

Test Details (As Shown in Photos):

Printed on Creality K1C using black PETG.

Print time: 1h 31m.

Filament usage: 17.76g.

A brim is required to connect all cylinders into a single piece.

Advantages:

Low filament consumption.

Fast print time.

Easy comparison of settings.

Ability to disable unnecessary parameters after evaluation.

This test provides a simple and efficient way to fine-tune your ironing settings and improve the surface quality of your prints. Experiment with different materials and find the perfect balance for your needs!
