I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and the Droids from that universe. Unfortunately, I don't have enough space for full sized models, but I do have a couple of free shelves that I have slowly been filling up with Droids and Robots from various sci-fi franchises.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a decent, posable pit droid at the scale I wanted. Sure there were some small ones and some massive ones. The closest I found was good, but unfortunately used ball-joints and couldn't hold a pose. So I fired up my CAD software and started building a pit-droid from scratch designed for FDM printing.
This model isn't terribly acurate to any particular version as I had to take some liberties either due to scale or to enable 3d printing with FDM. However, I've done my best to retain the character of the pit droid while making it strong and easy to print!
This model has been a real labour of love. I have spent over a month, modelling, printing, tweaking and printing again to make my dream become a reality.

Print Settings:
For the Pit Droid, I reccomend printing everything with 4 perimeters, 10% Zig Zag infill with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.15mm layer height (feel free to go smaller if you want).
All of the parts are provided orientated for optimal printing (on modern, high quality printers). Most parts will not require supports but there are a few that do (check out the pre-sliced file to see which is which).

- 7 x M3 8mm Hex Head Machine Screws
- 14 x M3 10mm Hex Head Machine Screws
- 2 x M3 12mm Hex Head Machine Screws
- 6 x M3 20mm Hex Head Machine Screws
- 6 x M3 Nuts
- 1 x 20mm Glass Cabochon (AliExpress)
You may be wondering why I reccomend hex head machine screws? This is because you never see a Philips head screw in the Star Wars universe! However, this is your droid - use what you have on hand.
Electronics:
I have designed space at the back of the eyestalk to add a single neopixel and a channel in the antenna should you want to add a 5mm LED to the top!
