A planetary gear with only 2 planets? Shouldn't that fall apart? The sun gear definitely can move sideways, but the assembly does not fall apart. This is indeed a strange thing - probably without any use other than being strange and thus somewhat interesting.
The hex holes fit typical hexagonal pencils.
Printing: The usual stuff works fine (0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height). I use random seams to avoid thick seam blobs though. There are two STLs with different tolerances (tol15 and tol19), the smaller one worked fine for me (Prusa Mini).
