This crossbow is intended to be a fun, fast-printed toy with reasonable durability and power. I test-shot the crossbow 436 times before the 3D-printed string broke. The crossbow shoots around twenty-five feet or so depending on the angle of the projectile when launched. It is not as durable as I had hoped, so I will possibly attempt to fix this in the future.
Print Details:
- No supports are needed.
- Use three perimeters.
- No assembly is required. Just unattached the model from the print bed and fire away.
Note: I printed the crossbow on an MK3S+ Prusa printer using Hatchbox PLA black, a nozzle diameter of 0.4mm, and a layer height of 0.2mm.
I speculate that PETG would work better, but I don't have any so I have not tested to see if it works.
Don't do's if you want your crossbow to last.
- Do not dry-fire the crossbow.
- Please do not leave the crossbow in the sun or a hot environment, especially when it is made out of PLA.
- Do not leave the crossbow drawn back for extended periods.
If you have any issues, let me know.
Happy Printing!
