This is a 1/20th scale British Cromwell tank. One of the most produced late model British cruiser tanks. I was not trying to make overly historically correct, but a model that would be reasonably fun to put together, look decent, and not send you to the hardware store for more pieces to complete.
Everything needed to assemble is printed with the exception of some fast set epoxy. A couple clamps are nice to keep a couple things aligned as I found plastic parts can warp. The normal print clean-up tools and a 1/4 " round file was good at cleaning up holes to provide smooth rolling.
PLA+ was fine for all parts. While the model is fairly large the parts are sized to fit on a normal printer.
Post-Printing
Glue the front and back frame pieces together, clamps are best to hold tight while the glue sets.
Assemble the 10 sets of road wheels. 1 axle, 1mm spacer against the frame, 2 - 1mm spacers against the inner wheel, 2 wheels, and a wheel lock to hold together. There is a single piece wheel, or a two piece if you want to print the tire in black TPU and glue on the rim for a better look.
Insert each into frame and optionally secure with a clip. You can just push the tab into the holder in the frame if it holds tight. Axle, tab, holes will require some cleanup to get them to move smoothly. The torsion of the axles makes the suspension.
Slip the idler axles in place they should overlap and allow the axle to rotate to get proper tension on the track. Don't secure it until track is in place. Use spacers, 1 against frame and two against wheel, and a wheel lock to secure idler wheels in line with the road wheels.
Use the drive axles and spacers to align the sprocket with the road wheels and lock sprocket on with a wheel lock. I just used two spacers against the frame.
Print enough 12 cleat track sections to reach around the wheels and sprockets. I removed two cleats from the last section to get the tension I wanted. Then glued the idler axle at an angle to maintain proper track tension.
The pivot for the main gun should snap into the turret, and the main gun can be glued into it. Then the top of the turret can be glued on.
I set the front top plate on the frame and glued the front plate in place without gluing the top plates.
Insert the turret ring into the top plates and glue the front and back top plates together with the turret ring. I left the top plates free from the frame permanately but they can be glued to the frame as a last step later.
Glue the exhaust cover to the back of the tank. The vent on the top back plate can be glued in place as well.
Connect various hinges to the hatches with filament. Glue the hinges to the tank and secure until set. One minor flaw the top front hatch rubs the bottom of the turret and had to file the corner of the hinge down a bit after setting to let the turret turn by. May go back and inset the hinge later, but it can work as is.
Snap front machine gun into mount and glue into front plate.
Snap the turret into the ring in the top of the tank.
Glue on fenders and add fender boxes if desired. It would be difficult to do the sprocket and idler wheel if you install the fenders too early.
When everything is done you can glue the top plate and turret to the frame, but sits fairly secure without it on my rendition.
That is it...
fyi, replaced the frame front (missing tow cleats), replace the front top to inset the hinge a little to clear the turret, and replaced the associated hinge to fit the recess.
