This is a model of a ballpoint pen's click mechanism that I designed to understand its workings. I wanted to comprehend how, with the identical action of pressing, we receive two completely different outcomes: retraction and extension of the pen tip.
It can also serve as a fidget toy, or you might utilize this latch mechanism in your own project.
Post-processing:
- Lubricate the beveled surfaces on the parts 'button' and 'cylinder' with some lubricant grease. Alternatively, you can sand them with sandpaper. It's important to ensure the mechanism does not stuck.
Other components:
- M3 screw ............…………………................. 3x
- spring ⌀4-20 (from ballpoint pen) ...... 1x
Printing parameter:
- Nozzle: 0,4 mm
- Layer height: 0,15 mm
- Perimeters: 2
- Infill: 20%
- Supports: None
- Filament: PLA
