Introduction

With this adapter, you can hard-mount your Thrustmaster TMX or T150 steering wheel (T128, T248, T-GT II, T300, TX, TS, T500, 458, T80 models as well). It's quite an upgrade from the OEM clamp-style racing-fixation-kit-fk2 that is prone to flexing/slipping with enthusiastic drivers. There are several benefits to this approach:

• Inexpensive (~$3 in plastic, ~$5 in nuts/bolts) vs $20+ (USD) for the original fk2 kit or aftermarket alternatives when factoring in shipping

• Sturdy mount - wheelbase won't move unlike with the original clamp that can flex and slide

• Low-profile - frees up ~50mm under the wheel so you won't bump your knees

• Ergonomic - raises wheel ~15mm which is often more comfortable for some less-adjustable rigs

• Multiple bolt patters - accommodates ~95% of Sim racing stands/frames

My design was inspired by the $28 (USD) Ricmo Tech  RMT-T150HMP adapter plate but with the following improvements:

• cutouts for the rubber pads built into the bottom of the wheelbase

• works with simple universal replaceable metric fasteners as opposed to heat-set nutserts

• four different 2x M6 bolt-hole patterns to suit various wheel stands/frames including the following on-center distances:

  • 67mm

  • 78.4mm

  • 135.25mm

  • 171mm

To-do:

• For v4, augment model to capture M6 nuts on the top side to make installation simpler

Fasteners

• Two M6 x 16mm - 1mm fine thread bolts (20mm-40mm length ok) with matching nuts and washers (lock washers or Nyloc nuts recommended)

• One M10 x 16mm - 1.5mm coarse thread flanged bolt (20mm-40mm length ok) with matching wave or lock washer

Tools

• Metric box-end wrenches

• Ratchet and metric socket set

• Drill with 7/16" or stepped bit

Recommended print settings

• PETG, ASA, or ABS material

• 6 perimeters (4 perimeters for 0.6mm and larger nozzles)

• 5+ top/bottom layers

• 0.25mm layer height

• 20% zigzag/grid or gyroid infill

• no supports necessary

Install instructions

• Place adapter plate on table/frame and ensure there is free space for the M10 bolt - if not, drill a hole with a 7/16th drill bit.

• Fix adapter plate in place with two M6 bolts + nuts/washers but do not over-tighten as you can damage the plastic

• Carefully fit steering wheel onto adapter plate

• Fix steering wheel to adapter plate with single M10 bolt and washers - do not over-tighten as you can damage the plastic

• After an hour of racing, re-tighten bolts by 1/8th turn if needed
