Why a new model?

The original model has the limitation to be at minimum 4 units wide (otherwise the parametric model breaks). Therefore this model is not fully compatible with it and thus decided to be a separate static set of models.

What is different?

• The space next to the latches were decreased to free up some space for the label.
• The handle was removed for the same reason (the handle is the feature which limits the original model to go under 4 units).
• The lid alignment tabs were decreased in size
• The label holder was widened and repositioned to make it wider and taller

What to print?

• 1x Base (choose one, 6U, 9U, 12U high are available)
• 1x Lid
• 2x Hinge (choose one type, fully printed or use an M3x30 bolt with a nut)
• 2-6x Latch (you need 2 on the front to close the lid, the ones on the side are used for stacking)
• 1x Label (you can print any text or graphic on it, but leave about 2-3mm free on the perimeter)

How to print?

I use PETG and also recommend it, but plenty of people printed the original model using PLA. I did not test with PLA!

Base

• Recommended profile: 0.3mm DRAFT
• I recommend adding supports to the bottom of the locking tabs
• Place it right side up

Lid

• Recommended profile: 0.3mm DRAFT
• I recommend adding supports to the hinge slot for the long bridging (on a well calibrated printer this might not be necessary, but better to be on the safe side)
• Place it right side up

Hinge (printed)

• Recommended profile: 0.2mm QUALITY
• Should print fine without supports but if it fuses completely, add supports to the bottom of the cylinders.
• Place it standing on the bed

Hinge (screw)

• You can print it the same way the printed version (bolt head part facing down), or print the two parts separately and use appropriate support for cleaner result.
• You'll need an M3x30 bolt and an M3 nut per hinge.

Catch

• Recommended profile: 0.2mm QUALITY
• Supports might be needed on the bottom of the tabs on the side
• Place it flat face down

Label

• Recommended profile: 0.2mm QUALITY
• Place it flat face down
• You can add text or other modifiers in the slicer or edit the model in your choice of mesh massager
• Keep a 2-3mm border untouched on the face around the perimeter

Bins inside

• Those are stackable Gridfinity bins, use recommended settings of your choice of bins
• See the Gridfinity section below.

Gridfinity

Zach Freedman laid the bases of this organization system and shared as is an open source project. To print the containers inside (or similar ones), search for “Gridfinity bins” or similar on almost any model sharing site.

You can fit 6/9/12U (42mm) high bins in this box (in any combination, like 3U+1U+2U for 6U). In order to lock the bins with the lid in place (and prevent the items in the bins spilling out), fill the full height of the box in each place you use. The lid accommodates for the stacking lip, which adds 4.4mm to the bin's height on top of the 42mm.
