A rough model of the College Football Playoff Trophy.

This was made using a combination of the most accurate draft dimensions I was able to find publicly, combined with rough dimensional matching for missing measurements and details. This model is not 100% accurate to the original trophy, but is in my opinion the closest publicly available 3d model to the dimensions of the original.

The example prints shown in the pictures are from 25% to 40% scale. The maximum size for a Prusa Mini is 40%, printed in single colors at a time.

Fun fact from my research into this, the castings for the CFP trophy have varied slightly year to year! So this is as close as I could get to the original official measurements, but it's still probably still not going to be a perfect match. You can actually see those differences if you look at ESPN's on-air 3D models which, as a CFP partner, should have the most accurate models, but they instead have several different models that aren't all the same! The most accurate 3D models are likely found in the EA CFB series video game, but those game assets are not available to the public, and thus we're stuck with fan recreations.

02/26/2026 - Likely my final iteration of this trophy, slightly tweaking V3 to become V3.1. This version adjusts the measurements of the brackets, putting the bracket 0.5" above the football face as measured vertically, instead of perpendicularly, resulting in dimensions that appears much more true to life. The positioning of the laces has also been corrected.

A multi-piece snap together version for single-color printing is now available as well. The snap components have a hard time holding when printed at reduced scale, but still hold together ok coming off of my printer and also can always be glued.

I have thoroughly tested this model myself on my array of Prusa printers up to 40% scale on a machine as small as a Prusa Mini, though up to 50% and maybe is possible on a lot of current consumer printers. Multicolor 3mf project files are now included as well to get one started. The larger scales are most easily achieved with the single color files, but a sufficiently large printer to create a 1:1 scale trophy would require a massive build volume, and is likely unrealistic for most people.

Printing a multicolor base can be done either vertically or with the front of the base lying flat against a build plate - both options come with drawbacks though, as lying face down is faster but fidelity is lost in the logotype, and upright can result in a cleaner print but the likelihood of failure is much higher with increased filament swaps. Examples of both off a Core One are included in the pictures.

Front plates for customizing the base are no longer offered. Since creating my original designs of these, printing slicers have come a very long way and offer more customization options than ever and solve the general problem that customizable plates tried to solve. I also provide my Fusion 360 files for deeper customizations if wanted. 

Versions 2 and 3 are still up if anyone wants to use them, but they're obsolete at this point.

01/19/2026 - Just in time for the 2026 National Championship, V3 is now live! Made to the best and closest official dimensions as I could get, this model in my opinion is the most accurate out there for hobbyists apart from the actual trophies themselves! I have not yet had the chance to make this myself, but will update when I have done so, the current print pictures are of an old version.

V3 introduces several new versions and re-organizes everything to make it more approachable. All files are at the original size of the trophy and will need to be scaled unless you have a giant printer. The main V3 configuration is now more multicolor-native. V2 files and V3 files are not interoperable!

I also want to note that I have seen a number of sellers using this file on their customized trophies. I specifically disallow this, this model is not for commercial printing.

1/19/2017 - You asked for it! 2 new types of base have been added for personal customization, one with a blank face, and another with a cutout and blank plate. If you want to create your own parameterized plate, you can remake the plate out of a block .5" deep by 5.8675" wide by 13" tall. (.5" by 5.8675" by 13")
