The transverse flute is thought to be one of the oldest musical instruments. It was first made of bone or wood. Today, the simple models are usually made of plastic, and we can make them with a 3D printer.

Although this is a simple flute, it requires precise measurements for the size and spacing of the holes. In a flute, air is set into vibration by the blowing of air against a sharp edge. The tone is formed by a standing air wave. To extend the air wave and change the pitch, the flute holes is closed. 

This flute is pitched in C. When all the holes in the flute are closed, the tone is C5. The tonal range of the flute is one octave, but we can extend it by overblowing.

The model is long and narrow and the area of the model towards the print bed is small. Therefore, I have included files with wings to provide extra support for the first few layers printed, to reduce the risk of printing failing. These support wings are easy to break lose after printing.
