What is it?

A print-in-place heart shaped locket made to be used as a gift. 
It is slim and fun as a light fidget (with the magnetic clasp!).

Parts Required (other than printable parts)

1. x2 round magnets 3x1mm (Affiliate link on AliExpress https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dd1rC3B)
2. x2 photos, about 25x25mm each (effective size is a brut 23x24mm heart shape)

Note there are 2 versions of stencils - ‘Smaller’ for thick photo paper with better grip in grooves, and 'Larger' for thin, print paper photos (as pictured below).

Printing Tips

The final .3mf/.stl are designed with around 0.3mm clearances for all moving parts and should work well with decently calibrated PLA. 
I've had better luck with the black silk PLA than the eSun PLA+ due to droopy overhangs (Still worked, but needed a bit more careful prying of the hinge mechanism). Didn't try PETG but my guess is it'll be rough due to stringing and low detail.

After printing the bottom part of the hinge might be a bit stuck, be gentle and encourage it to move without exerting undo pressure.

In the gcodes I provided there already exists a pause for magnet insertion. 
If you slice yourself make sure to perform a pause before the layer covering the magnet holes in the sides and put the magnets in them before you. Make sure you verify polarity in advance.

Do yourself a favor and get some good quality photos, it's amazing that in 2023 it takes me more effort to find a way to  print something nicely in 2D than in 3D

My Settings

Some of these are cosmetic and some are crucial for a good print:

• Layer Height: 0.15mm (some of the clearances take this layer height into consideration, other heights might not function as well)
• Perimeter Generator: Classic (for finer detail on embossed pattern in first layers)
• Perimeters: 8
• Fill Density: 100%
• Top Fill Pattern: I used Octagram Spiral for a star shaped finish, but play around with the options for different finishes.
• Turn off Supports

PRUSA MINI Specific Tips

I made two specific changes to the Mini's gcode:

1. In serial mode (OctoPrint) the Mini's FW apparently still can't run a print pause command (M601) so I changed that to filament change (M600) and simply reloaded the same filament after inserting the magnets. 
   Note that if you run the gcode locally (from thumb drive) this is not an issue.
2. I moved the part to the edge of the build plate for ease of access to the magnet slots during the pause/filament change.

Distribution and License

This is my first published part and thus I don't now an awful lot about licenses but it feels right that if you want to improve upon my design feel free but just mention my work, don't sell a bunch of these something similar (non commercial), and respect my requests by keeping the same kind of license moving forward.
