T-LCM Brake Pedal Mod - Thrustmaster Loadcell

Update #4:

If you want no play at all I (and other users) recommend scaling Z in the slicer to 104%. Especially if you have vibration motors on your pedals this will eliminate any play or rattling.

Update #3: Some tips and feedback from other users:

This should be printed in TPU 98A shore hardness. Different manufacturers mean different stiffness, even if they all proclaim the same shore hardness. I used Extrudr TPU Medium 98A. So I suggest you just print all 3 different models and see which one feels best.

To prevent cracks I recommend to print very very slow (like 15mm/s), small layer height (like .15) a little hotter than you normally would and make the layer width to around 120% of your nozzle width (.4 nozzle = 0.48 layer width, .6 nozzle = 0.72 layer width).

Some other users mentioned, that scaling Z height in the slicer to around 102% makes it fit with other types of metal springs too.

Update #2:

  • Optimized the model to be printed with any printer/slicer and not need Cura magic anymore
  • Added variations SOFT (one dot at the top), HARD (two dots) and ULTRA (three dots).
  • You should start with HARD (that's what I'm using)
  • Mounting: You just need the TPU spring and one of the original springs on top (see picture 2).

I really like the Thrustmaster T-LCM Loadcell pedals but even the stiffest red springs on the brake felt a little too weak and had a noticeable endpoint.

A more realistic feeling would be more / progressive force and a softer endpoint. Here is a simple 3D TPU print to do just that.

I tried several iterations, as I had no idea how to even make a TPU printed spring. I learned a lot in the process and version 9 feels way better than standard. I think more versions will follow, but I'm quiet happy with the result so far.

I used TPU with a shore hardness of A98 (Extrudr TPU medium Neon Orange).

More flexible/elastic TPU won't work I guess.

Happy printing and braking ✌

Print Settings

* 0.6 nozzle * 0.15 layer height

If you print with a smaller nozzle (like 0.4) you probably want to print with other settings here. More walls and layer width around 120% of your nozzle width.

  • 0.66 layer width
  • 3 walls
  • 6 top & bottom layers
  • 100% infill
  • 240°C nozzle (hardened steel, brass would be around 230°C), 60°C bed
  • 15mm/s speed
  • 10mm brim
