I could not find a Bethlehem star model for hanging on the back of a sleigh. So, I designed this star in SolidWorks and have included the .step and SolidWorks files for remixing. There are ender 3 sized parts which print in 3 sections. For those with bigger printers, I have included half and full .3mf
Update 3/16/23:
Added Star_with_Backplate. This model has all the pieces attached. No assembly required! You may need to scale it down to fit on a smaller printer.
Printing
The following settings are what I used for the star.
0.2 mm layer height, no supports, skirt bed adhesion, 10% infill
I printed in PLA for easier printing, and because this is just for decoration.
Make sure the flat side is facing down.
Settings for the mounting bracket
0.28 mm Layer height, no supports, no bed adhesion, 20% infill
It is possible to fit the big mounting bracket on an ender 3 size printer (220mm X 220mm) it just takes some time to get the right angle
Assembly (for sleigh mounting)
Materials needed for mounting
- Some sort of epoxy or PLA glue
- 1/25 bolts or M6?? (untested)
Once all the star segments and mounting bracket are printed, insert the bolts into the bracket. Then, find your epoxy/ glue and attach the star segments to the mounting bracket. I designed it for a sleigh, so nuts secure the bolts to the frame. In the future, I might model holes for wood screws.
